Jots mode is one of the principle unique features of Amplenote, defining many of the workflows and Ample philosophies that are used throughout the community. Scrolling through all of your notes without friction, the ability to edit or interact with them on the fly, these features put the user in a creative headspace without the pressures of having to make a lot of decisions or click a lot of buttons
The problem, however, is that there is a huge limitation on the number of notes viewable at one time. Just as the user starts to get into the flow, they hit a brick wall of the bottom of the page; now, they must manually click on the tiny button to navigate to the next page--no gestures or shortcuts available. This immediately brings the user out of the zone and back into "I'm using a piece of software" mode
The proposed feature is as follows:
Give an option to the user for how many results per page they want, and/or add buttons and gestures to jump to the next page
This is a standardized feature across most website, such as Google, Amazon, etc. An infinite scrolling page would also be nice, however that could then make navigating to the end of middle of the list more complicated
Concerns:
Even for slower systems with memory issues, there are tricks that can be done, say, if the user selects "100 notes per page", such as pre-caching a smaller amount, then loading them further on the fly as they scroll down. For systems with higher memory available, preloading the full 100 shouldn't be an issue. There are numerous ways to gauge the amount of memory available to the system programmatically

This is one of my main issues with in jots mode. It shows too little notes at once.
All the notes except the first, should be collapsed by default, show only the titles of the notes. This means you can show so many more notes at once, without any performance issues. You can quickly scan for the note you are interested in and expand the note of if you need to. This should bring the note to the top.
Currently you can edit a few notes at a time before it gets unpractical because we have to keep scrolling back and forth

This is my workflow in upnote. I can easily edit and switch between multiple notes. The jots view is simply the notebook view.
